Located in what is becoming the hub of bridal land, Yorkville, Sarah Houston has firmly planted roots. A chance meeting on Twitter and a few chats later, we finally got a chance to sit and speak about life, family, love and of course brides.





Designing for her Barbies at age 6, Sarah grew up and become an accountant (yes it's true) before moving on to pursue her dream - bespoke gowns. In 2009, the first Sarah Houston collection hit the stores and now outfits brides from all over the world. The Sarah Houston signature look is simple, elegant with an old Hollywood glamour feel.

"I don't let a bride leave with a dress. I always ask her to sleep on it and call me in the morning." Sarah Houston. A pretty gusty move for most but not for Sarah, her brides come back. Sarah goes on to say that a wedding is stressful enough without having buyer's remorse about your dress selection. And so it is a very easy, relaxed and quiet experience at Sarah Houston. They take one bride at a time in the dressing room area so all attention is on that one bride. "You remember the events leading up to the wedding as they create the wedding. We are not about high volume but all about a calm and relaxing atelier experience." Sarah Houston. So creating a boutique that parlayed that environment was key to the Sarah Houston experience. It's also a family affair at Sarah Houston, her daughters model all of Sarah's creations. Sarah once named a dress, Janine, after a woman who's grandfather wanted her to buy a particular dress. And every bride receives a phone call on her wedding day wishing them a wonderful day. "It's an honour as a designer to be chosen for a bride's special day" Sarah Houston.
