The dilemma for most brides when planning a destination wedding is how do I pack and transport my wedding dress safely. Today most airlines are sensitive to brides with a dress and will allow you to hang your dress in a closet on-board. Sarah of Sarah Houston Bridal shared with us her tips on how to pack and transport your dress to your destination wedding.

Placing your dress in a breathable garment bag is preferable as this will ensure your dress breathes and does not cause oxidation on your dress like plastic. Most resorts that host destination weddings will steam your dress for you at little or no cost before the wedding. If you are marrying at a resort that doesn't offer the service, here are some tips that will help you out:
1. When you arrive at your destination, immediately hang up your wedding dress. Some of the wrinkles will fall out of the dress when you hang it up.
2. Hang your gown in the bathroom, turn the shower to hot, close the door, and let the shower run until the room is filled with steam. The steam will relax most creases.
3. Invest in a portable hand steamer you can use whenever you travel. Guard against spotting water-sensitive fabrics such as silk by wrapping the head of the steamer in a towel.
4. If you haven't made arrangements to have your dress steamed or pressed professionally, use a hair dryer on the wrinkles. The heat will make the wrinkles and the fabric relax. Hold the hairdryer on high heat and hold it about a foot away from the dress. Blow the heat on the wrinkle until it starts to relax.
