Can I wear suede shoes in the spring and summer?
Suede is often thought of as a winter fabric, for shoes, but no one says that you can't wear suede in spring and definitely into the summer months. There are a few rules to wearing suede in spring and summer:
1. Choose Bright Colours:
Because of the makeup of the suede material ( it has open pores ) it absorbs and holds colour intensely. For the summer choose this year's must have colours of tangerine, hot pink, purple and cobalt blue.
2. Go For Neutrals:
Or pair a neutral suede shoe with any of the hot colours for this spring and summer. A neutral suede shoe in a soft pink is a perfect pairing for a cocktail black dress ( on those that are shorter as a pale shoe adds length to the body ).
3. Sandals or Pumps:
Leave the suede boots and ankle boots in the closet for the winter. You can tell a winter suede shoe versus a summer suede shoe. Winter shoes are heavier looking, come in dark colours and have more material to cover your feet for warmth . Choose suede fabrication in sandals, pumps and peep toes.
Spring and summer are great times to wear suede just check the weather before steeping outside, if it is going to rain bring a spare pair of shoes or more appropriate, your ‘wellies’. Also, don’t go trudging through dewy grass; suede and water do not mix.
So go ahead, put on those “blue suede shoes” with confidence.
