Boxing Day Shopping Tips
Stress-free Shopping
The images of 'sugar plums dancing in your head' are quickly replaced with the images of boxing day sales once Christmas day has passed, now it's on to the deals!
If you are the annual Boxing Day power shopper than you might already have a 'stress-free guide' to do so that you have created, but if not we have a few tips that might help you make the most of your time and money.
STORES & MALLS
1. Plan your day. Make a list of the stores you want to hit the most so you have a guide, this will alleviate the aimless wondering through the mall.
2. Research. Make sure you have done some research in flyers or on store websites for the best deals i.e. electronics and furniture.
3. Have a budget. Know how much you want to spend on certain items and in what stores, this way you won't blow all you Christmas money in one place.
4. Shop smart. Bring a bottle of water and a few snacks, it's important to keep yourself hydrated and energized. This way you won't have to wait in food court lines and can focus on the task at hand ? SHOPPING!
5. Plan ahead. It is a good idea to pick some Christmas gifts for next year, you'll save money and time and have a little extra for next year's boxing day shop.
6. Dress appropriately. Wear comfortable shoes and clothes, flats or sneakers and comfy pair of jeans or trousers is our recommendation, of course comfy doesn't mean forgo fashion, so no sweats or pajama's.
7. Relax. Remember to stay calm, there is going to be crowds, line ups, people bumping into you and taking your parking spot, let these things slide off your back.
Try and use all or at least some of these tips before you venture out for the big shopping day and you will find it a much more enjoyable and stress free experience.
ONLINE SHOPPING
1. Same as above, plan the stores, brands or websites you most want to shop from.
2. Have a budget. Know what you are looking to buy and spend.
If post-Christmas day shopping madness is more than you can handle, stay home and enjoy buying from the comfort of your own home; click from the couch or even better, from the bed. However online shopping doesn't offer the same instant gratification as swiping the plastic at every store but it is definitely way less stressful and it's ok to wear those sweats or pj's. Boxing Day shopping can be a lot of fun, but it can also be stressful so make sure no matter how you are doing it be prepared and ready to face the day.
You go BIG SPENDER!
