Can I use a self tanner and look natural?

TO PROPERLY SELF TAN YOU NEED 1 DAY!

A self-tanner would definitely be the way to go, they are quick and easy and most importantly safe. It's important to know how to properly use self-tanners so you achieve the perfect sun kissed glow and not look like a Jersey Shore Star. Follow these steps and you will be blissfully bronzed for your event.

1. Prepping the skin is key! Shower, shave and exfoliate (wait one day after exfoliating) before applying any self-tanners. You need a clean, smooth canvas.
2. To avoid the Jersey Shore look, don't go too dark too quick. It is a gradual process to get a natural glow. So depending on your skin tone (i.e. fair to medium) use a self-tanner designed for your type. Start with one application and don't get wet for eight hours.
3. If you feel you would like to go a bit darker then apply another application, remember you want to look natural not orangey so allow the first application to set (one day) before applying more.

For the tanner on a budget Marcelle i-Bronze Self-Tanning Cloths, Winner of the 2008 Chatelaine's Top 100 Best in Beauty - Best Bronzers Category, for the tanner on a budget. The cloths are a no fuss, no mess way to achieve nice and natural colour.

Or splurge with Rodial Brazilian Tan (available in Light and Dark). You will have an instant caramel glow upon application and a deep natural glow within 2-4 hours.

TIP: To avoid streaking - apply self-tanners in short, upward strokes starting from the legs up to the face, go easy around ankles, writs and elbows and NEVER wear gloves.
