Help my lipstick is down to the nub. What do I do?

  Just Nuke it!

We have all been there, scraping the plastic lipstick barrel across our lips, just trying to get one more application out of your fave colour or digging some of it out with a pinky finger. Why is it that we women find it so difficult to accept that our favourite make-up has run-out and must face the harsh reality that, it's time to buy a new one?  It is especially frustrating when it is your $50 Guerlain or a colour that has been discontinued. But not to fret ladies, your fave shade saving trick is here!

Follow these few simple steps and you will be wearing that colour again, hassle free in seconds.

  1. Purchase little plastic pots (lip balm sized ones) from your local beauty supply store.
  2. Using the end of a sterilized knife (sterilize with rubbing alcohol) scrape the last of the lipstick out of the barrel and put it in the pot (make sure there is no lipstick on the edges of the pot).
  3. Place the pot in the micro-wave and put it on high for 5 second intervals until the lipstick is completely melted. *** It is important not to let the lipstick boil as it could separate during cooling.
  4. Once completely melted,, remove pot, give the colour a stir with a sterilized pin and let cool. Once the liquid has completely cooled and solidified it is ready to wear!
Use the same steps to create new colours by mixing different colours together. Also, try mixing a lip gloss with a matte lipstick to create that colour with a glossy effect. You can do this with any lipsticks, glosses and balms, just make sure the products have not gone rancid and always make sure everything is sterilized before use.

And there you have it ladies a quick and easy way to savour that colour for a little while longer!
