I've always been interested in fashion ? even when I worked in very unstylish positions like as a Becker's milk boy, I made sure I was the most fashionable milk boy around.

After college I worked for a series of major retailers like the Bay and Club Monaco, which were both great experiences. I taught myself how to make patterns and sew. I started attracting design projects with some great fashion companies like Benetton, Settimo Cielo, The Body Shop Canada and more. It was a natural progression ? I always knew I loved fashion so it was about finding a way to turn it into a career.

No matter how fabulous a shoe, handbag, or dress may be comfort is key. Even with my own Nella Bella designs, it is just as important that the handbag feels comfortable and natural as it is that the handbag is fashionable!

I drew inspiration for the 2011 Fall/Winter collection from a number of things. There is a definite 50s vibe mixed with modern elements. I was also fascinated by vintage car upholstery, and I think this shows in the fabrications I used. The colors and textures for the fall collection are desert inspired - I used soft browns, pinks, and beiges.

We also introduced NB Man, which consists of bold designs for the fashion-forward male. NB Man consists of classic pieces ? the backpack, the carry-on, and the side bag ? but with a modern twist.
