Top 10 Skin Care Myths
by Editor
How many times have you heard if you have oily skin avoid products with oil, alcohols in skin care are bad? We've heard them many many times. The following are some common myths you have heard and some not so common.
10. Natural/Organic Skin Care Creams are Better
Remember that all synthetic ingredients are derived from nature. So at the end of the day it doesn't matter if you are putting a natural or synthetic cream on your face and in fact the synthetic cream has probably gone through more rigorous testing than the natural/organic cream. Only go with natural/organic if this is a way of life for you - if you believe in the philosophy of the company not because it is a better skin care cream.
9. I Tan I Don't Need an SPF
SPF's today protect against burning UVB rays (which you see) and photo-aging UVA rays (which take a longer time to manifest). Just because you tan does not mean you don't require SPF - hey if it was just about aging then I'd say go ahead tan as much as you like but sadly it is not it is about the harmful affects of the sun that lead to skin cancer and just because you tan doesn't mean you are not genetically predisposed to skin cancer. So if you tan or not always use at least an SPF 15 when outside and reapply after 2 hours no matter what as sunscreens degrade.
