MARCELLE BB CREAM: BEAUTY BALM SKIN ENHANCER
January 23, 2012
It's one of the trends that we highlighted in our Beauty Trend Report
- bb creams. In short, a bb cream is an all in one product. First developed to help counteract the affects of laser skin treatments, reduce redness, to rejuvenate the skin and provide UV coverage. The term originally called Blemish Balm where blemish meant spot or redness not acne as blemish is known for today. The newest BB cream to launch is one made specifically for the Canadian woman ~ Marcelle® BB cream
We spoke with Isabel Picard, from Marcelle, for the inside scoop on the new BB cream.
BC: How is Marcelle's BB Cream formulated for the Canadian Woman
Marcelle: "As you know, the BB cream gained momentum in the Asian market where whitening properties are top of mind in skin care. Although, correcting age spots is a desire for Canadian women, giving their face a lighter complexion is not. Also, Canada is a country which truly has 4 very distinct seasons, but also extremely different weather conditions (very humid areas, and other extremely dry). A great Marcelle product has to be able to adapt and answer hydration needs in all cities, coast to coast!"
BC: Multitasking 8 in 1?
Marcelle: "Canadian women voiced their desire for a multi-tasking product. From the makeup junkie to the no-make-up-moisturizer-only lady, Canadian women are ON THE GO! If this BB could pack a suitcase, change the baby’s diaper and empty the dishwasher, it’d be even better! Realistically speaking, we want a product which can be versatile and be able to hydrate + provide a great, even skin tone + matify, all in one. Canadian women have come to expect a certain freedom from using a product in the sense that they have to be able to customize it to their routine. (“I want to be able to use it with this other favorite product of mine, or not”)."
BC: Canadian Women Have Many Skin Tones How Can 2 Shades Cover Us All?
Marcelle: We wanted to offer a BB Cream that would be suitable for as many women as possible, without having to offer an overwhelming number of shades to choose from. We selected “intelligent” pigments, which mimic natural skin tones and, therefore, adapt quite easily to a greater variety of skin colourations."
So whether you refer it to its abbreviated name of BB cream or beauty balm or blemish balm, know that it will be on your lips as this year's biggest Beauty Trend.
